Argentina managed a thin 1-0 win over Nigeria in a sizzling contest from the Bird's Nest national stadium in Beijing on Saturday. A lone goal from Angel Di Maria early in the second half sees the South Americans take home their second straight Men's Olympic Football gold, while Nigeria are forced to settle for consolation silver.

The match began promisingly enough with Lionel Messi and Sergio Aguero carving out early chances for the Argentines, and Solomon Okoronkwo and Peter Odemwingie looking dangerous for the Africans.

On ten minutes, the lively Okoronkwo looked to have committed a fatal mistake when he fouled Angel Di Maria and gifted Argentina a free-kick at the edge of the box. Luckily for the Hertha Berlin man, though, Riquelme blazed his try well over Ambruse Vanzekin's crossbar.

Only two minutes later, Okoronkwo - looking dangerous out on the right - linked up well with Odemwingie. But the danger-man with the bright red boots could only hit over from a tough angle inside the box.

SHANGHAI, China - Jo scored two goals and Diego added a third as Brazil beat Belgium 3-0 on Friday to win the bronze medal in men's soccer.

Diego opened the scoring in the 27th when he darted in front of defender Tom de Mul and knocked a cross from Rafinha past Belgium keeper Logan Bailly and inside the far post.

Jo added the second just before halftime, heading in a deflection after Bailly blocked a blast from Ramires from 10 meters out. The lanky striker then added an injury-time goal to finish off the scoring.

BEIJING (Reuters) - Argentina forward Sergio Aguero scored twice to help the Olympic champions to a 3-0 win over Brazil in their semi-final on Tuesday.

Aguero also won a penalty from which Juan Roman Riquelme completed the scoring to earn Argentina a place in Saturday's final against Nigeria, 4-1 winners over Belgium.

The Olympic Games are the only major title to have eluded the Brazilians, five-times winners of the World Cup and eight-times winners of the Copa America.

After hitting the post twice, their frustration boiled over in the last 10 minutes when Lucas and Thiago Neves were sent off, both for tackles on Javier Mascherano.

SHANGHAI, Aug 19 (Reuters) - Nigeria thumped surprise package Belgium 4-1 on Tuesday to reach the Olympic soccer final for the first time since winning the tournament 12 years ago.Striker Chinedu Ogbuke Obasi scored twice in the second half after Olubayo Adefemi had given the exuberant but erratic Africans an early lead.

Chibuzor Okonkwo completed the rout while Victor Anchebi sidefooted wide with the goal at his mercy for arguably the worst miss of the competition.

Belgium, surprise winners over Italy in the quarter-finals, were on equal terms for the first hour but then fell apart.

SHENYANG, China (AP) - Striker Rafael Sobis and defender Marcelo scored a goal each in extra time Saturday to give Brazil a 2-0 win over 10-man Cameroon and a spot in the semifinals of the Olympic football tournament.

Despite playing a man up for most of the second half, Brazil failed to break the scoreless draw until Sobis fired a right-footed shot from inside the area in the 101st minute. Marcelo then sealed the victory with a goal from near the penalty spot in the 105th.

Cameroon went a man down after forward Albert Baning received his second yellow card on a foul in midfield in the 52nd.

Brazil, trying to win their first Olympic gold medal in football, hadn't reached the semifinals since the 1996 Atlanta Games.

Saturday's encounter was a rematch of the quarterfinals of the 2000 Sydney Games, when the Africans eliminated Brazil in extra time en route to their first and only Olympic title. Ronaldinho, Brazil's top player this year, also was a member of that Brazilian squad.
