Russia have beaten Greece in the Euro 2008 group d match with the score 1:0. Russia's Zyrianov scored the only goal in the 33rd minute but only with the help of Greece goalkeeper Nikopolidis who made a bad decision.
In rest of the match there were many battles fought which was a result of few yellow cards, Karagounis and Liberopoulos for Greece and Saenko and Torbinski for Russia. Greece fought hard to the end but were not able to use the many chances they managed to create. With Russia winning today, Spain have clinched the first place in group d as Sweden and Russia will battle for the second spot on June 18th. Greece will play for honor versus Spain the same day as the game will have no competitive importance since Spain already qualified for quarterfinals and Greece being eliminated.
